 This position is funded by the Comunidad de Madrid through the 2019 Call for the Attraction of Research Talent of the Community of Madrid (Ref. 2019-T1/BMD-13039).

 

 

The work activity of the Research Assistant will be integrated in the research project:  “YAP in thyroid cancer: role in tumorogenesis and progression of the disease and its implication in drug response - Ref. 2019-T1/BMD-13039".           

Main functions to carry out:

Support in the necessary experiments to carry out the research project.

- Cell Biology Techniques: maintenance of cell lines in culture, cell freezing, media preparation, transfection/infection assays, cytometry, fluorescence microscopy. Cell growth, viability and proliferation assays (IC50). Cell invasion and migration assays.

- Molecular Biology Techniques: DNA electrophoresis, cloning, digestion with restriction enzymes, ligation, bacteria transformation and mutagenesis. RNA extraction and qRT-PCR (real time and conventional). Protein extraction and Western Blot.

Requirements

Education: Graduated in Biology, biomedicine or similar with knowledge in cellular and molecular biology techniques.

Professional experience: Previous working experience in a research laboratory, preferably in molecular biology or molecular oncology laboratory, will be positively evaluated. Experience in thyroid, melanoma or colorectal cancer will be assessed.

Other merits to evaluate: Project management.

Skills: Person with enthusiasm and desire to learn. ability to work independently and in a team organized, positive and with good communication skills. Results-oriented, highly proactive, responsible and with a work ethic. Organizational capacity with initiative. Observation skills and attention to detail. Methodical in his/her work.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the profile described in Requirements by a Selection Committee composed by scientist staff of IMDEA Food Institute. Ad-hoc experts could be participating in the process.

The best-qualified applicants will go to the second selection phase consisting of a personal interview by the Selection Committee.

The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits claimed by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

 

Conditions

Contract: Full-time training employment contract* with trial period established by law.

*Requirements: required degree obtained in the last 5 years. Not having had a training employment contract previously 

Dedication: 37,5 h/week,  split day, Monday to Friday

Duration: max. 24 months

Annual gross salary: 18.563 euro
