The assigned tasks are:
Multidisciplinary research aimed at elucidating the mechanisms of action of compounds derived from bioactive products (poisons and toxins), with the objective of identifying candidates and therapeutic targets useful in diseases associated with ageing, including cancer and associated mutations.
Basic and applied research, with animals and humans, with emphasis on studying and promoting their possible technological or therapeutic applications for the prevention and/or improvement of diseases associated with ageing.

Contribution to the evaluation, based on sound scientific evidence, of the claims that these new products may present.
The candidate will also participate in the detailed scientific evaluation of possible claims that may arise from the compounds tested.
Additionally, the candidate will participate in scientific and technical training activities for the Institute's laboratories and research groups, and will collaborate as part of his/her regular activity in the provision of the advanced services offered by the centre, with a main emphasis on the biochemical, pharmacological, cellular and functional characterisation of bioactive compounds.
