  This position is funded by the Comunidad de Madrid through the Grant  Ref. Y2020/TCS-6654, acronym "AI4Food-CM"

The work activity of the support researcher will be integrated in the research project: “AI4Food-CM: Inteligencia Artificial para la Prevención de Enfermedades Crónicas a través de una Nutrición Personalizada”      

Main functions to carry out:

Development of Molecular Databases Microbiome data filtering, normalization, and analysis (16S and metagenomics)

Development of Applications and implementation of methods for microbiome analysis

Development of multimodal models for the combination of information sources from different origins (microbiome, nutritional survey, biochemical parameters, and others)

Development of user interfaces for AI4Food and their validation

Collaboration in scientific and community-oriented outreach activities

Requirements

- Education required: Degree/Graduated Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Food Science and Technology or other related

- Other:

Finalizing (50 ECTS completed or more) or possessing a postgraduate / master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related will be positively valued.

Additional training in Microbiology, Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Genomics, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry will be positively valued.

Interest in doing a doctoral thesis will be positively valued.

CV to obtain competitive contracts for the completion of a doctoral thesis will be positively assessed.

English skills are mandatory

- Professional experience required: Experience with R, Linux, Python, SQL

- Other Professional experience:

Extracurricular internships and training stays will be positively valued

Completion of final degree and / or master's degree projects in the area of bioinformatics and computational biology will be positively valued

- Other merits to evaluate:

Participation in courses related to molecular biology will be positively valued.

Obtaining scholarships and awards will be positively valued.

- Skills:

Competencies: results-oriented, highly proactive, task management, problem solving, responsible.

Skills: Organizational skills. Ability to integrate in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work as part of a team with the ability to build personal relationships

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the profile described in Annex 1 as appropriately outlined in their CV by a Selection Committee composed by scientist staff of IMDEA Food Institute. Ad-hoc experts could be participating in the process. The best-qualified applicants will go to the second selection phase consisting of a personal interview by the Selection Committee.

The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits claimed by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

Conditions

Type of contract: Temporary full-time employment contract with trial period established by law.

Dedication: Full-time (37.5 h / week), split day, from Monday to Friday

Duration: untill 30/06/2022, with the possibility of renewal depending on financing

Annual gross salary: 19,870 euro.

The incorporation of the candidate to the IMDEA Food Institute is expected to be immediately after the selection process.
