Description

The contract is part of the grant PID2022-138295OB-I00, funded by MCIN / AEI / 10.13039/501100011033 / FEDER, EU, with PID2022-138295OB-I00 being the reference of the grant listed in the award resolution. MCIN stands for the Ministry of Science and Innovation, AEI is the acronym for the State Research Agency, 10.13039/501100011033 is the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) of the Agency, and FEDER, EU refers to the European Regional Development Fund.

IMDEA Food is part of the Network of Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies, promoted by the Community of Madrid, with the aim of conducting research that is both useful to society and of international scientific excellence. Within this framework, the project PID2022-138295OB-I00, titled “ON-PRIME: Precision Nutrition Strategies for Oncology Patients Based on Their Immuno-Metabolic Classification,” is being developed. For its proper execution, the project requires qualified research personnel.

The work activity of the researcher in biostatistics will be the performance of scientific-technical activities in the research project " PRecision nutrition approaches for ONcological patients based on ImmunoMEtabolic classification- ON-PRIME_PID2022-138295OB-I00”

Main functions to be developed:

- Bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis of data in omics technologies, health status and precision nutrition, including participation in discussions on study design and scientific publications. - Application of algorithms, databases and information systems, web technologies, soft computing, information theory and computation, data mining, image processing, modeling, circuit theory and statistics for the project.

- Perform complex statistical analysis, interpret statistical results, and prepare reports that include integrated summaries for reports, manuscripts, and proposal preparation.

- Development of molecular databases, including data filtering and normalization.

- Development of multimodal models for the combination of information sources from different origins (genetics, feeding surveys, biochemical parameters and others).

Requirements

I. Entry requirements:

Education requirements:

* Education Level (Undergraduate, Bachelor Degree, Master Degree, PhD):

- Graduate in Biomedical Sciences or Experimental Sciences (Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicine,...) and

- Postgraduate/university master's degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology or related.

* Research Field: Biostatistics

II. Evaluation of merits:

Other Education to evaluate:

- Additional training in genomics, microbiology, nutrition, molecular biology or biochemistry will be positively valued.

- PhD in statistics or similar will be positively evaluated.

- High English level (min. B2 or equivalent, according to the Common European Framework of Reference (MERC).  This level will be evidenced by the presentation of the corresponding diploma or, failing that, by passing a level test during the selection process (written and/or oral))

Professional experience & expertise to evaluate:

- Previous professional activity in similar positions.

- Demonstrated experience in multiple bioinformatics and statistics areas.

- Experience in the use of software tools and technologies commonly used in the field (Java, XML, Perl, C, Python, R, SQL, CUDA, MATLAB, SAS®...).

- Additionally, Programming in Python. Bioconductor and Biopython. SQL databases. Linux. Shell, Git and Docker programming. HTML.

Other merits to evaluate:

- Author of prestigious scientific publications (indexed in international databases)

- Author of communications to scientific conferences.

- Participation in research projects.

- Knowledge/experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

-Ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary team.

-Ability to work in a team with ability for personal relationships.

- High oral and written communication skills.

Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates will be carried out in accordance with the principles of equality, merit, capacity and publicity, as well as objectivity, independence and professional rigor, respecting the confidentiality of the participants' personal data, by means of a merit-based competition.

Once the deadline for the submission of applications has expired, and once the fulfilment of the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the merits included in the curricula vitae related to the post and to select the candidates who best meet the established requirements,  and will then open a second selection phase consisting of a personal interview.

The personal interview will consist of a face-to-face or videoconference interview which will focus solely on the merits put forward by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the post. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.

The evaluation process will be carried out according to the following criteria:

I. Additional training to be assessed: 0-30*.

II. Experience to be assessed: 0-30*.

III. Other merits to be assessed: 0-10*.

             IV. Interview: 0-30

Conditions

Type of contract:  employment contract for scientific-technical activities (art. 23 bis  Spanish Science Law) in accordance with current legislation, with a probationary period established by law.

Dedication: full time (37,5 hours per week), flexible split day, from Monday to Friday.

Gross Annual Salary: 25,747 euros gross/year.

Duration:Indefinite, until the completion of the project (end of grant 31/08/2026).

Incorporation: immediately.
