Description

The contract is part of the project: 101162517 — DiBaN — HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDERCHALLENGES-01-03, funded by the European Commission - EUROPEAN INNOVATION COUNCIL AND SMEs EXECUTIVE AGENCY (EISMEA).

 

IMDEA Food is part of the Network of Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies, promoted by the Community of Madrid with the aim of developing research that is useful to society and of international scientific excellence. More information can be found at www.food.imdea.org. Within this framework, the project 101162517-DiBaN is being developed, titled “Linking Intestinal Bacteria and Host Metabolism to Tackle Type 2 Diabetes with Novel Food,” which requires qualified research personnel for its proper execution.

The main objective will be to carry out scientific and technical activities related to the Nutritional Genomics and Health research line, which is to be developed in the form of the aforementioned R&D&I project.

Main functions to be developed:

-Development and validation of a organ-on-a-chip platform in humans and performance of different molecular biology techniques for the project.

-Development and application of clinical trials of nutritional intervention.

-Elaboration of the study protocol, preparation of the intervention, recruitment and selection of the population, intervention views, data collection, etc.

-Collaboration in scientific and community-oriented dissemination activities.

-Analysis and dissemination of results (writing of projects, scientific articles, attendance to congresses...).

Requirements

I. Access requirements:

Required degree:

* Education level: PhD degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and/or Biomedicine or related fields.

* Field of research: Molecular Biology, metabolic diseases, nutritional intervention trials.

II. Evaluation of merits:

II.A.- Other Education to evaluate:

- High level of English: (C1 level / Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or similar.

- Knowledge / certification of organ-on-a-chip technology; and of Organoid culture technique of both mouse and human (tumor / healthy tissues).

- Training in laboratory techniques for genetic analysis of microbiota and metabolites or general molecular biology techniques will be a plus.

- Knowledge of biostatistics and data analysis.

- Computer skills.

II.B.- Professional experience & expertise to evaluate:

- Experience in cell culture: organoid technology both mouse and human (tumor / healthy tissues), organ-on-a-chip technology will be an asset.

- Experience in general biochemistry and molecular biology techniques: RNA and protein isolation and quantification, DNA cloning and editing, immunofluorescence, RT-qPCR, gene expression analysis, metabolic activity analysis (Seahorse bioanalyzer), imaging techniques and different cell behaviors such as migration, invasion, proliferation (ACEA xCELLigenc...).

- Experience in nutritional research studies, protocol development, volunteer recruitment and management, data capture, diet analysis, data computerization, collection and processing of biological samples.

- Experience in biostatistics and data analysis is a plus.

- Experience in social media outreach and dissemination of results will be an asset.

- Experience with digital and communication tools will be an asset.

II.C.- Other merits to evaluate:

-Authorship in SCI scientific journals indexed in Q1 (in relevant authorship positions). Minimum 2 in first authorship.

-Author in oral communications and posters in national and international congresses.

-Participation in research projects of competitive calls, contracts, agreements, both national and international, related to the research area of the position.

-Specific training as an anthropometrism will be a plus.

-Training in digital tools courses will be a plus.

III. Capabilities & Skills (to evaluate in the interview):

Competencies: results-oriented, highly proactive, task management, problem solving, responsible.

Skills: Organizational skills. Ability to integrate in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work as part of a team with the ability to build personal relationships.

Use of fluent English.

Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates will be carried out in accordance with the principles of equality, merit, capacity and publicity, as well as objectivity, independence and professional rigor, respecting the confidentiality of the participants' personal data, by means of a merit-based competition.

Once the deadline for the submission of applications has expired, and once the fulfilment of the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the merits included in the curricula vitae related to the post and to select the candidates who best meet the established requirements,  and will then open a second selection phase consisting of a personal interview.

The personal interview will consist of a face-to-face or videoconference interview which will focus solely on the merits put forward by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the post. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.
