CALL FOR AN EUROPEAN R&D&I PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE IMDEA FOOD FOUNDATION (PROJECT: “101162297 - MENTORING”)

The contract is part of the project: 101162297 - MENTORING - HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDERCHALLENGES-01 funded by the European Commission - EUROPEAN INNOVATION COUNCIL AND SMES EXECUTIVE AGENCY (EISMEA).
IMDEA-Food is the coordinator of the EU project 101162297- MENTORING, entitled “Addressing malnutrition and metabolic health in non-communicable diseases through precision Nutrition: impact in quality of life and prognosis of lung cancer patients” financing within the “EIC Pathfinder Challenge Call: Precision Nutrition” and for whose proper development requires highly qualified technical management personnel.
Its purpose will be the development of activities focused on the management of research projects of scientific, technical or innovation nature, granted by EU or EU-linked entities, incorporated within the research line Precision Nutrition and Cancer, who need support for the development of the above research project
Main functions to be developed:
-Constant monitoring and support for the execution of scientific projects in order to achieve the planned scientific and budgetary objectives and prepare the economic and scientific justifications for the different projects, both at projects leaded by IMDEA Food as well as helping other partner organizations in the case of consortia coordinated by IMDEA Food. This task includes the coordination of R+D management activities performed by the centers and organizations belonging to these consortia.
- Specifically, within the action 101162297 — MENTORING de HE (EIC Pathfinder), leadership in the tasks of follow-up, support and execution for work packages WP4, WP5, WP6 and WP7 (Identification of Dietary modulators and nutritional strategies / Clinical validation and implementation / Project and risk management; Dissemination, communication and exploitation) as well as support and collaboration to accomplish the other work packages coordinated by IMDEA Food (Prospective study for sample and data collection / Molecular profiling and biomarkers / Data integration and modelling / Portfolio actions, integration and development).
- Monitoring and control of the resources dedicated to the projects developed by IMDEA Alimentación, in particular, through the corresponding electronic platforms for the management of European R&D&I projects, in particular the Participant Portal, Funding & Tenders and similar.
- Preparation of economic, legal and project management documentation necessary within the approved projects, including the coordination of the contributions of the same type to be prepared for the same purpose by the partner organizations participating in the consortia that are coordinated by IMDEA Food.
- Elaboration and management of administrative procedures and reporting to the European Commission.
- Contact with the Commission on any particular administrative or contractual issue that may arise during the implementation of European projects. To liaise with European Commission officials at the negotiation, contract implementation and reporting stages.
- Preparation of detailed interim and final reports as outlined in the projects’ EC Grant Agreements..
- Strategic orientation of the research group towards the calls where they are most competitive, and vice versa, carrying out strategic promotion of financing programs, competitive and results-oriented, both in the short and medium term.
- Support of the work of the Head of Management when necessary. Provide advice and support to the Research Administration section on specific EC-funded projects. Maintenance of a full awareness of IMDEA Food Institute policies in relation to international research and innovation issues.

I. Access requirements:
Required degree:
- Higher University Degree, Bachelor's or Master's degree (level 3 of the MECES), preferably in the fields of Economical science/Business/Business Administration, or Life Sciences/Health Science/Food Technology/Nutrition.
II. Evaluation of merits:
II.A.- Other Education to evaluate:
- Education in management, execution, monitoring and justification of R+D+I grants, in special those precedent from EU.
- Additional specific education in R+D Management, innovation and technology transfer and in technological services supporting research
- Specific education in internationalization and management of international research programs
- Other related to the required functions.
II.B.- Professional experience & expertise to evaluate:
- Experience and outstanding performance in leading jobs within private and/or public organisms dedicated to the promotion or execution of R+D+I programs, or in a direct way, to manage, support or consulter in R+D+I programs, including personal granting and technological innovation programs.
- Experience in the management of projects involving international consortia, preferably from EU and R+D and innovation.
- Experience in the follow-up and justification of R+D+I projects to public institutions, preferably from EU.
- Experience in the use of electronic platforms for the application, follow-up and reporting of R+D projects, especially those corresponding to Portal Funding & Tender opportunities, Participant Portal and alike
- Additional experience related to the offered job.
II.C.- Other merits to evaluate:
- Fluency in English (reading, listening, writing), verifiable (C1 level)
- Knowledge and good performance with informatic management tools (Office, dynamic tables, macros, forms, databases, etc.)

The selection of candidates will be carried out in accordance with the principles of equality, merit, capacity and publicity, as well as objectivity, independence and professional rigor, respecting the confidentiality of the participants' personal data, by means of a merit-based competition.
Once the deadline for the submission of applications has expired, and once the fulfilment of the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the merits included in the curricula vitae related to the post and to select the candidates who best meet the established requirements, and will then open a second selection phase consisting of a personal interview.
The personal interview will consist of a face-to-face or videoconference interview which will focus solely on the merits put forward by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the post. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.
Scale - selection criteria:
The evaluation process will be carried out according to the following criteria:
I. Additional training to be assessed: 0-20*.
II. Experience to be assessed: 0-40*.
III. Other merits to be assessed: 0-10*.
IV. Interview: 0-30
Type of contract: employment contract for scientific-technical activities (art. 23 bis Spanish Science Law) in accordance with current legislation, with a probationary period established by law.
Dedication: full time (37,5 hours per week), flexible split day, from Monday to Friday.
Annual gross salary: very competitive remuneration depending on the candidate's value.
Duration: indeterminate, linked to funding from GA support 101162297 - MENTORING - HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDERCHALLENGES-01 (end of support 31/08/2028).
