he Computational Biology Group within the IMDEA-Food Institute is seeking for a highly motivated scientist with expertise in frontend tools development. The candidate will be involved in the European project “Food Nutrition Security Cloud (FNS-Cloud)”, a large European consortium with 36 partners. The candidate will work in the tasks leaded by the group to create the front-end of scientific software to be developed in the context of the project in collaboration with other colleagues. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the group to develop new bioinformatic tools.
The Computational Biology Group is a multidisciplinary community of bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, molecular biologists and microbiologists focused on the study of nutritional behaviours on health and complex diseases, such as the complexity in the relationships between food, genes and disease to establish precision personalized nutrition strategies based on individual molecular background. The group leader provides focused and tailored mentoring to ensure that group members reach the desired career goals.
Education Requirements:
• Occupational professional training in web applications, BSc Engineering in Computer Science or similar.
Other Education to evaluate:
• Additional background in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or similar will be considered during the process but not compulsory.
Qualifications Professional experience & expertise required:
• Experience with HTML, CSS y Javascript (Jquery) or others
• Experience with SQL databases
• Experience in PHP
• Experience with wordpress
Other Professional experience & expertise to evaluate:
• Recommended experience in VueJS or similar (AngularJS, React or others)
• Recommended experience in Highchats or similars to create interactive charts for web and mobile projects
• Recommended experience in source code repositories (e.g. Github).
Skills (to evaluate in the interview):
The successful candidate needs to show:
• An excellent oral presentation & writing (in English) skills,
• Ability to perform collaborative research in a highly multidisciplinary environment
• Highly independent, motivated, and collaborative person
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Significant research initiative
Candidates will be selected based on the profile described in Annex 1 as appropriately outlined in their CV by a Selection Committee composed by scientist staff of IMDEA Food Institute. Ad-hoc experts could be participating in the process. The best-qualified applicants will go to the second selection phase consisting of a personal interview by the Selection Committee.
The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits claimed by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.
Duration: Temporary full-time employment contract for 12 months with trial period established by law.
Dedication: Full-time (37.5 h / week), split day, Monday to Friday
Annual gross salary: 20.000 €
The incorporation of the candidate to the IMDEA Food Institute is expected to be immediately after the selection process.
