Description

This contract is co-financed at 40 per cent by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), 2021-2027, as well as by the Community of Madrid.


The funding available for this recruitment is linked to a single research project; the performance of scientific-technical activities linked to the line of research carried out by the research group, requires its development in the form of the following research project: "Study of Precision Nutrition and global health, metabolism and chronic diseases: Precision nutrition strategies for ONcology patients based on their ImmunoMEtabolic classification".

Main functions to be developed:

The scientific-technical activities to be carried out by the laboratory technician will be the following, performing both technical instrumental and laboratory management tasks:

- He/she will carry out basic instrumental laboratory techniques including biochemistry, molecular biology and cell culture methods:

1. cultivation, maintenance, freezing and stock control of different cell lines and organoids.

2. Preparation of reagents for general use in the group.

3. Management and handling of the group's collection of biological samples: isolation of serum, plasma and cell fraction.

4. Isolation of DNA, RNA and microRNAs.

5. Extraction of proteins and quantification by Western Blot (WB).

6. Genotyping and quantitative PCR of genes and microRNAs.

7. Development and maintenance of databases.

8. Development of other analytical techniques used in the Precision Nutrition and Cancer Laboratory.

- In addition, he/she will provide support in tasks of organisation and scientific management of the laboratory:

1. Promotion and monitoring of projects. He/she will have to be aware of current projects, as well as the available budget and the usefulness of each item.

2. Management of the stock of material, carrying out weekly stock controls and making the necessary orders, follow-up and reception.

3. Supporting staff management and student training. Organisation of the group's participation in events and activities. Support in travel logistics.

4. Support in events and courses, and other communication tasks, such as generating web content and dissemination through social networks.

5. Preparation of technical and administrative documents. The contracted person must compile the quarterly scientific production of the group, unifying scientific publications, congresses attended, papers, etc.

The technician will have to participate in the research activities related to the group, attending meetings and collaborating with the different members of the working team. The technician's ability to solve problems and make decisions within his/her field of competence will be encouraged.

Requirements

Qualifications required:

* Level of education.

Technician in Laboratory Operations (LOE) or Higher Technician in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory (LOE) or similar, within the framework of vocational training in the education system.

* Field of research: Molecular biology, cancer, nutrition.

Additional training to be assessed (other qualifications, other knowledge):

Training courses related to the position.

Publications, attendance at congresses/conferences, seminars, etc.

 Additional professional experience to be valued:

Previous work experience in a research laboratory, preferably in molecular biology or molecular oncology laboratory will be positively valued.

Other merits to be valued:

Minimum level of English B2.

Skills and abilities (to be assessed in the interview):

Selection Criteria

After the deadline for submission of applications, and once compliance with the requirements listed in the second base have been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the documented merits included in the curricula vitae and to select the candidatures that best suit the established requirements; then a second selection phase will then be opened, consisting of a personal interview.

The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits declared by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

Conditions

Type of contract: employment contract for scientific-technical activities (art. 23 bis Science Law) with a probationary period established by law.

Dedication: 37.5 h/week in split shifts, from Monday to Friday.

The contract shall be totally incompatible with any other public or private employment, with any other salary or wage, including hourly or casual work.

Gross annual salary: 19,000 euros (prorated over 12 payments).

Duration: indefinite-term contract, linked to funding from the call for grants regulated in ORDER 1711/2023, of 19 May, of the Vice-Presidency, Regional Ministry of Education and Universities (two-year grants), with the period commencing on the date on which the staff take up their posts, which will be specified in the contract to be formalised.

 Incorporation: immediate.
