CALL FOR A RESEARCH ASSISTANCE IN BIOINFORMATICS FOR IMPaCT-Data PROJECT
IMDEA Food Institute (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Food) adheres to the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researcher.

The candidate will participate in the IMPaCT-Data project (Exp. IMP/00019) has been financed by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), co-financed by the Union Europe, FEDER "A way of making Europe". The candidate will work on the tasks in which the group is involved in the aggregation of data from different sources, creation of databases and development of web applications for the visualization of massive data. In addition, the candidate will participate in the writing of manuscripts and deliverable scientific reports.
Education requirements:
Degree/Graduated Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Sciences, Physics, Food Sciences and Technology or related fields
Master’s in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Data Sciences, Statistics or other related with data sciences will be mandatory.
Other Education to evaluate:
Professional experience & expertise required:
Demonstrated experience with UNIX environments
Strong programming skills with python, and R
Experience with structured and unstructured data
Experience with MySQL and MongoDB
Experience in code repositories (e.g. Github).
Experience with Natural Language Processing frameworks and tools (eg: tensorflowor, pytorch or OBO foundry).
Other merits to evaluate:
Professional experience of more than six months in research centers or companies will be positively evaluated
Participation and work in international environments
Participation in publications and communications to congresses
Skills (to evaluate in the interview):
An excellent oral presentation & writing (in English) skills,
Ability to perform collaborative research in a highly multi-disciplinary environment
Highly independent, motivated, and collaborative person
Good organizational and communication skills
Significant research initiative.
After the deadline for submission of applications, and once compliance with the requirements listed in the second base have been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the documented merits included in the curricula vitae and to select the candidatures that best suit the established requirements; then a second selection phase will then be opened, consisting of a personal interview.
The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits declared by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

Type of contract: employment contract for scientific-technical activities (art. 23 bis Spanish Science Law) with a trial period established by law.
Dedication: full time (37,5 hours per week), flexible split day, from Monday to Friday.
Annual gross salary: 22.365 euro
Duration: indeterminate.
Incorporation: immediately.
