This call is made under the provisions of the Fourth additional provision of Real Decreto-ley 32/2021, de 28 de diciembre, de medidas urgentes para la reforma laboral, la garantía de la estabilidad en el empleo y la transformación del mercado de trabajo and the Order of January 30, 2023 of the Consejería de Economía, Hacienda y Empleo authorizing the IMDEA ALIMENTACIÓN FOUNDATION to cover 8 posts through a public call, charged to the specific replacement rate authorized by the Secretaría de Estado de Función Pública del Ministerio de Hacienda y Función Pública on December 30, 2022.
This rate is complementary to the ordinary replacement rate established in Ley 4/2021, de 23 de diciembre, de Presupuestos Generales de la Comunidad de Madrid para 2022 and the additional stabilization rate derived from Ley 20/2021, de 28 de diciembre, de medidas urgentes para la reducción de la temporalidad en el empleo público.
Job description:
Functions Technical profile:
The main work activity of the technician will be the realization of scientific-technical activities and management of the Platform of organoids in Precision Nutrition in Cancer. Among others, the following tasks:
- Organization and management of the Platform of organoids in Precision Nutrition in Cancer. Maintenance of order and operational operation of the laboratory.
- Responsible for the generation, maintenance and metabolic characterization of the 3D culture platform: paired organoids of cancer patients, in collaboration with different hospitals.
- Technical support in the development of the different collaborative projects that make up the Precision Nutrition and Cancer Program. Technical support for the design of operating protocols and procedures.
- Carry out a large part of the experimental tasks corresponding to ongoing research.
- Manage the advanced scientific equipment of the laboratories, taking care of its proper use and maintenance.
- Manage the supply of consumables, their administration and use.
- Participate in technical meetings to cover the demand for research projects and laboratory analysis.
- Prepare reports of analytical results and maintain the historical repository of them.
- Develop and validate analysis methodologies, as well as the development of existing methods.
- Realization of complex molecular and cellular biology techniques and procedures for nucleic acid analysis (qPCR, RNAseq), proteins (Western blot), cell function (cell culture, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy), use of complementary analytical techniques (real-time monitoring of oxygen consumption and extracellular acidification rates with Seahorse XFe bioanalyzer, analysis of cell proliferation and viability with ACEA xCELLigence MP, component analysis by HPLC).
- Analysis of the data obtained in the different experiments carried out and participation in the writing of scientific articles and in congresses.
- Organization and management of the scientific production and projects of the Program.
- Organization and management of the laboratory: Supervision of undergraduate and master students of the R+D Program and other laboratory tasks such as stock control and orders, relationship with the usual suppliers that provide goods or services to the projects of the Program. Maintenance of stocks, control of common laboratory reagents and general material. Cleaning and sterilization of material.
- Required degree:
Minimum qualification required:
PhD in Celular/Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or or related disciplines.
- Other specific requirements:
- Authorship in at least 5 SCI scientific publications in areas of cancer and / or metabolism indexed in Q1 (in relevant positions of authorship).
- Use of fluent English (spoken and written).
- Professional experience to assess:
- Experience in the handling of experimental animals, colony management, genotyping and experimental procedures.
- Experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques including extraction and quantification of nucleic acids and proteins, quantitative real-time PCR, arrays, RNA-Seq, Western Blot, Reverse Line Blot.
- Experience in in vitro culture techniques with different cell lines, primary cells and 3D cultures (intestinal and hepatic organoids).
- Mastery of computer tools and experience in data processing and biostatistical analysis for projects of an epidemiological nature.
- Participation in projects and scientific publications related to the topics ncRNAs, exosomes, interventional studies, bioactive components and lipid metabolism.
- Proven technical experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques: basic and 3D cell culture (organoids), isolation and quantification of RNA and proteins, DNA cloning and editing, immunofluorescence, RT-qPCR, gene expression analysis, analysis of metabolic activity (Seahorse bioanalyzer) and different cellular behaviors such as migration, invasion, proliferation (ACEA xCELLigenc...).
Other merits to assess:
- Participation in competitive scientific projects of public and private funding. The direction and supervision of master's or undergraduate students will be positively valued.
- Co-author in scientific publications and oral communications and posters in national and international congresses.
- International stays in scientific laboratories.
- Proficiency in office automation (Office, online databases) and statistical software (GraphPad, SigmaPlot).
- High level of English: (level C1 / Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).

After the deadline for submission of applications has expired, and once compliance with the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee shall proceed to evaluate the merits based on the curricula provided, and to the selection of the candidatures that best fit to the established requirements; in a second selection phase, a personal interview will be conducted.
The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits claimed by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position and knowledge of the English language. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.
