Description

The call is made under the provisions of  Additional provision eleven of Law 4/2021, December 23, of the General Budget of the Community of Madrid for 2022 and the Order of  November 28, 2022 of the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Finance of the Community of Madrid.


A selective process is called for the coverage of a staff vacant position of Head of the Nutrition and Clinical Trials Unit (senior nutritionist-doctor), with the profile and characteristics established in Annex 1 of the official Call.

Job Description

The Nutrition and Clinical Trials Unit (Registered in the Community of Madrid  with number CS13175 (13/05/2015) conducts nutritional intervention studies designed to evaluate the biological activity and health properties of functional foods/bioactive compounds and diets in humans.

This Unit designs and develop nutrition programs to improve or maintain the health of adult and child population, developing preventive tools against obesity, as well as other high prevalent diseases

  • Functions Research profile.

The functions that must be carried out will be those related to the direction and execution of the activities of the Nutrition and Clinical Trials Unit.

He/She will be responsible for the supervision of dietary intervention studies and observational studies including protocol design, ethics committee processing, volunteer recruitment and management, data mining, etc., as well as nutrigenetic clinical trials associated with focused research projects. to the study of the molecular effect of nutrients and the personalization of nutrition.

He/She will be responsible for supervising the design, planning, performance and analysis of clinical trials in different areas of nutrition and health, with analysis of biomarkers and molecular and genetic components associated with the different responses to nutritional patterns and compounds. To do this, you must be aware of the latest advances in the field, by reading current publications, participating in conferences and seminars, etc.

Preparation of grant proposals, study protocols, scientific publications, presentations at conferences or talks. Carrying out nutritional information campaigns.

He/She will oversee the performance of laboratory analyses, interpretation of statistical results, and preparation of reports including integrated summaries for reports, manuscripts, and proposal submissions.

Requirements

Education required:

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition or Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or similar with training in Human Nutrition-Dietetics (MSc).

Other specific requirements:

- Postdoctoral experience in public or private R&D centers or Spanish or foreign universities, related to the corresponding Research Area/ Clinical nutrition.

- Knowledge of genetics and personalized nutrition.

- Publications in high-impact international scientific journals in the área.

- Use of fluent English

- Experience in healthcare nutrition will be valued.

Curricular merits of the candidate, to evaluate:

• Contributions:

- Co-author of prestigious scientific publications (indexed in international databases), some of them as the first autor, books or chapters of scientific and technical books.

- Co-author of communications to scientific conferences.

- Co-inventor in granted or licensed patents.

  • Participation in R+D+i activities:

- Participation in competitive research projects, contracts with companies, agreements, both national and international, related to the research area of the position/ especially involving work as a care nutritionist.

- International mobility (stays in foreign research centers).

  • Other curricular merits:

- Successful applications in highly competitive scientific programs for young researchers (e.g. "Juan de la Cierva" Program, "JAE" Program, "PEJ"-POST Program, etc.)

- Obtaining awards, mentions and research distinctions.

- Other contributions not included in the previous sections.

Other merits to assess:

- Specific experience in the research area of the position:

     Demonstrated experience in conducting dietary intervention studies.

     Demonstrated experience in scientific research in nutrition and health, clinical, teaching and clinical consultation (more than 5 years desirable).

    Experience in the use of statistical programming systems (SPSS or R).

- Experience in the development and implementation of nutrition education programs.

- Experience in coordinating projects related to food and health.

- Knowledge of genetics will be valued.

- Co-direction of doctoral theses and degree and master's projects.

- Participation in the preparation of proposals to attract external financing.

- Collaboration in transversal activities (dissemination of results, ..)

Capacities:

- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and teamwork. Teams direction and management

- Proactive attitude, professional leadership.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the profiles described in Annex 1 as appropriately outlined in their CV by a Selection Committee composed by scientist staff of IMDEA Food Institute. Ad-hoc experts could be participating in the process. The best-qualified applicants can be invited locally for an interview by the Selection Committee.

The personal interview will consist of conducting a face-to-face or videoconference interview that will deal only with the merits declared by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the position. The interview will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.

Conditions

Type of contract: permanet full-time employment contract with trial period established by law.

Dedication: full-time, 37.5 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.

Duratio: permanet.

Incorporación: immediately after the selection process.
