This contract is part of the RA67–ABBOTT project, funded by ABBOTT DIABETES, USA.
IMDEA Food is part of the Network of Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies (IMDEA), promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid with the aim of developing research that is both socially valuable and of international scientific excellence.
Within this framework, the research project “RA67 – Exploring the association between polyphenol intake (circulating levels) and muscle- and metabolism-related effects in adults over 50 years of age” (Project: RA67–Abbott) is being carried out at the IMDEA Nutrition Institute, funded by ABBOTT. For its implementation, the Institute requires a Research Assistant.

The scientific and technical activities to be carried out by the hired person will be those related to the implementation of the intervention covered by the services contract signed with Abbott.
Main duties will include:
- Recording, digitising, filing, and monitoring documentation from data collection questionnaires.
- Blood sample collection and collection of urine, saliva, and stool samples.
- Placement of intravenous lines and safety monitoring during acute studies.
- Management of incidents during invasive procedures (venepuncture, oral glucose load).
- Maintenance and control of sample logs and their storage.
- Performing oral glucose tolerance tests.
- Sample processing (isolation of plasma, serum, and cellular fraction), aliquoting, and storage.
- Biochemical, anthropometric, and metabolic assessments.
- Quantification of metabolites using chromatographic techniques (HPLC) and mass spectrometry (MS).
- Preparation and validation of samples for metabolomics analysis.
- Use of statistical software and clinical data management platforms.
- Interpretation of biochemical results and preparation of reports for the research team.

Education requirements:
- Education level: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Double Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Nursing.
- Research field: Nutritional Control of the Epigenome

- Additional training in nutrition.
II. Professional experience to be considered:
- Hands-on experience in a clinical setting and patient management.
- Experience in blood sample collection via venepuncture.
- Previous experience in nursing procedures such as intravenous line placement and wound care.
- Experience in metabolite determination using HPLC and mass spectrometry.
- Previous experience in nutritional counselling and assessment.
- Previous experience performing oral glucose load tests.
III. Other merits to be considered:
- Driving licence and own vehicle.
IV. Skills and abilities (to be assessed in the interview):
- Good patient rapport.
- Motivation and enthusiasm for the area of work.
- Responsible and disciplined person.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The selection of candidates shall be carried out in accordance with the principles of equality, merit, ability and publicity, as well as objectivity, independence and professional rigour, respecting the confidentiality of the personal data of the participants, by means of a merit-based competition.
Once the deadline for the submission of applications has expired, and once the fulfilment of the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the merits included in the curricula vitae related to the post and to select the candidates who best meet the established requirements, and will then open a second selection phase consisting of a personal interview.
The personal interview will consist of a face-to-face or videoconference interview which will focus solely on the merits put forward by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the post. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.

Contract type: Permanent employment contract for scientific-technical project activities (Art. 23 bis of the Spanish Science Act), in accordance with current legislation, including the legally established trial period.
Working hours: Full-time (37.5 h / week), split day, Monday to Friday
Gross annual salary: Highly competitive remuneration based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience
