Precision Nutrition research, through the implementation of clinical trials in humans, is one of the main research lines at IMDEA Food.
This research line brings together shared objectives, activities, and scientific-technical services from several IMDEA research groups, coordinated under the transversal research line “Clinical Trials in Precision Nutrition and Health” and the GENYAL project.

The new leadership of IMDEA Food Institute, with the approval of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, has recently established a strategic goal to significantly increase in the short term the volume of R&D support services provided through GENYAL to both internal and external researchers.
This objective requires the transversal research line and GENYAL project to be reinforced with highly qualified technical staff, possessing the necessary professional experience to provide effective support in the management, control, and financial monitoring of the associated R&D activities and services. The role involves coordinating these financial management tasks across the various subprojects within GENYAL, ensuring alignment with the Institute’s general financial procedures, systems, and tools, under the direct supervision of the Institute’s Manager.
This position is linked to the development of the transversal research line “Clinical Trials in Precision Nutrition and Health”, specifically the GENYAL project and its subprojects, which encompass activities conducted by one or more research groups at IMDEA Food, organized under rigorous methodological standards in the form of R&D projects or contracts.
Duties – Technical Profile:
In particular, the Financial Management Technician for R&D activities will be responsible for adapting the relevant modules of the ERP Fund@net system to meet the evolving needs of GENYAL, so that the system can properly process the new financial management data resulting from the planned expansion of GENYAL’s activities and services.
The technician will also ensure proper coordination of the financial information related to the “Clinical Trials in Precision Nutrition and Health: GENYAL project” and its subprojects, in line with the Institute’s overall financial management standards, to guarantee the consistency and reliability of the financial information that IMDEA must provide to third parties.
Specifically, the technician will be responsible for:
- Monitoring the individual budgets and accounts for GENYAL activities, ensuring consistency with the overall project accounting of the Institute;
- Providing financial data on GENYAL’s services and activities required for the preparation, control, and submission of financial reports for other related projects;
- Managing responses to audits and requests from funding bodies regarding GENYAL-related activities;
- Conducting internal audits for externally funded projects;
- Other related financial management tasks as required.

I. Entry requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Education level: Bachelor’s Degree or University Degree or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, or related fields.
II. Evaluation of Merits:
Additional Training (other degrees, additional knowledge):
- Specific training in financial management and other areas related to the duties of the position.
- Knowledge of financial and analytical accounting for public-sector foundations, and related regulations.
- Knowledge of financial and analytical accounting for institutional public-sector foundations in the Community of Madrid, and related regulations.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a financial department as head of accounting, with full knowledge of the entire accounting cycle, including:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as head of accounting for public research centers or technology innovation institutions.
- Proven experience in using ERP tools (such as SAP, Oracle, Fundanet, etc.).
- Experience in financial control, monitoring, and reporting of grants for R&D or technology innovation projects funded by regional, national, or EU public administrations.
- Experience in auditing financial accounts and R&D or technology innovation projects funded by regional, national, or EU public administrations.
- Other experience related to the duties of the position.
Other Merits to Be Evaluated:
- Proficiency in advanced office software tools (MS Office suite, pivot tables, macros, templates, forms, and data analysis in Excel, etc.).
- Verifiable level of English (minimum B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference).
- Experience and knowledge of regional systems for monitoring, controlling, and financially reporting R&D&I grants in the Community of Madrid, Spanish State Research Agency, and EU programs.

The selection of candidates shall be carried out in accordance with the principles of equality, merit, ability and publicity, as well as objectivity, independence and professional rigour, respecting the confidentiality of the personal data of the participants, by means of a merit-based competition.
Once the deadline for the submission of applications has expired, and once the fulfilment of the requirements listed in the second base has been verified, the Selection Committee will proceed to assess the merits included in the curricula vitae related to the post and to select the candidates who best meet the established requirements, and will then open a second selection phase consisting of a personal interview.
The personal interview will consist of a face-to-face or videoconference interview which will focus solely on the merits put forward by the candidates in the competition phase and will be aimed at assessing the candidate's suitability for the post. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.

Type of contract: Permanent employment contract for scientific-technical project activities (Article 23 bis of the Science Act), in accordance with current legislation, with a trial period as established by law.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, split schedule from Monday to Friday.
Gross Annual Salary: Highly competitive salary based on qualifications and experience
Contract Duration: open-ended.
